How AI will Enable Contactless Hiring Post-Pandemic

Artificial intelligence is becoming increasingly central for businesses today. As recruitment goes through a new evolution in adapting to the conditions created by the pandemic, resources such as AI have a lot to offer. It is already making the hiring process more efficient across many sectors and could ensure that contactless hiring and on boarding is a simple and straightforward process in the months and years to come.

Where is AI already making an impact? One of the key features of AI is that it can take over repetitive tasks from humans and automate these, freeing up members of the HR team to add value elsewhere. There are a number of ways in which this could benefit the hiring process, from sending out paperwork to triggering reminders for video interviews. AI can also be useful when it comes to planning – the combination of machine learning and large amounts of data makes it possible for organizations to identify the exact recruitment needs for the business in the near future and to ensure that hiring resources are tailored specifically to this. AI is also already being used as a tool on many recruitment portals and this could translate into individual businesses, whether it’s being used to screen candidates or proactively seek out those using specific language in their CV and applications.

What role will AI have to play in contactless hiring? The lingering implications of Covid-19 mean that for now, the safest hiring process is a contactless one, and there is plenty that AI can do to support this. Perhaps the most obvious opportunity comes at the point of on boarding and training new starters. Rather than supplying candidates with paper instructions or putting them through a system of training handled by humans, AI assistants and VR or AR support tech could take over this process so that it can be entirely contactless. AI can also be used to manage the entire recruitment process, tracking the progress that candidates make and sending out messages or documents at the appropriate time. Currently, this is a process that requires a lot of human capital internally with contributions from a number of different teams and time-consuming collaboration. Greater use of AI will make it possible for this process to be contactless internally too by removing many of the responsibilities from the businesses’ own team.

Cost and time efficiency. It’s not possible to discuss the impact of AI on hiring processes without mentioning the benefits when it comes to cost and time. AI-managed hiring processes don’t rely entirely on human input to progress and so can be much more efficient for the business, ensuring that the right talent is in place at the right time. Plus, the use of automated screening can help to reduce the team required for hiring and, consequently, the cost too.

AI is going to have a big role to play right across the recruitment and business sectors in the years to come. Currently, one of the key ways it can benefit organizations is to support greater contactless hiring in a post-Covid world.
