The Fastest-Growing, Good-Paying Temp Jobs in 2014

151015590It only takes a look at the strongest performing staffing occupations to understand why the industry is positioned to continue its rapid growth into 2014.

From business services and healthcare to manufacturing and transportation, companies are demanding temporary and contract labor across industries and job-types. Many of the fastest-growing opportunities provide quality wages and true career progress, and due to a tight labor market, can be a headache to fill for in-house HR departments.

The following list, from Economic Modeling Specialists, is comprised of occupations in the temporary help services industry that are projected to grow by at least three times the projected rate of all job growth, have more than 20,000 projected temporary workers employed by year end, and pay more than $16 per hour.

It’s no coincidence that the occupations on this list look remarkably similar to lists of the toughest to fill positions. In cases where HR departments don’t have headcount or resources to find the right candidates, the staffing and recruiting industry is equipped to provide relevant talent pipelines at the right time, especially for skilled positions.

This is supported by new hiring forecast data.

Forty-two percent of private sector employers, according to a recent CareerBuilder and Harris Poll survey, plan to hire contract or temporary workers in 2014; that’s up from 34 percent in 2011. This coincides with the finding that half of HR managers (51 percent) currently have open positions at their company for which they cannot find qualified candidates, but only 48 percent build pipelines throughout the year.

Time, more so than cost, is the biggest impediment for companies that don’t continuously recruit, giving staffing firms an even greater opportunity to make connections, provide solutions, and deliver quality talent.
